What are common health issues pocket pets have?

Pocket pets like hamsters, guinea pigs and mice are more likely to carry certain diseases but with proper and regular health checkups, we can help mitigate the risk of some diseases and health concerns. These include:

  • Leptospirosis
  • Salmonellosis (from the same bacteria that causes salmonella)
  • Tumors
  • Parasite infections
  • Skin conditions

    What signs should I look out for?

    If you notice any of the below signs, please contact our veterinary team for support. They could be a sign of underlying health issues. Some signs include:

  • Difficulty breathing
  • Runny nose
  • Runny eyes
  • Hair loss (i.e. bald patches)
  • Loss of appetite
  • Diarrhea
