Vaccines for Puppies & Dogs

Vaccines are an effective way to protect your pet against harmful diseases.

Vaccinations help build your pet’s immunity against infections and disease that could otherwise be harmful to their health. Our veterinary team will provide a vaccination plan that determines the core (essential) and non-core (risk-based) vaccines they need to support their health. If your pet doesn’t have a vaccination plan, please book an appointment with us to create one at 705-476-3913.

What’s the difference between core and non-core vaccinations?

Core vaccines provide essential protection for all pets against certain diseases. Based on risk factors, like your pet’s environment, level of interaction with other animals or their health, we recommend additional non-core vaccines. Vaccines help to build your pet’s immune response if they come in contact with a disease or infection. Depending on the vaccine, your pet’s immune system will fight against the virus and completely protect them against contracting it or they’ll experience less severe symptoms. We recommend canine friends start getting vaccinated when they are a few months old. Your pet will also need booster shots all throughout their life.

What core vaccines do you recommend for dogs?

Vaccinations are a helpful preventative measure that protects your pet against diseases that would otherwise cause a range of health concerns. As a North Bay resident, we recommend your canine family member receive vaccines against:

  • Distemper
  • Adenovirus-2
  • Parvovirus
  • Rabies

What non-core vaccines do you recommend for dogs?

We’ll assess your pet’s risk of contracting any of these disease before following vaccines:

  • Lyme disease
  • Bordetella
  • Influenza (H3N8 and H3N2)
  • Leptospirosis
