Laser Therapy

A non-invasive and effective way to alleviate pain and promote healing in dogs and cats.

Laser therapy is helpful for targeting areas of pain or inflammation and generating healing in your pet’s body. It can be used on its own or along with other medications as part of your pet’s pain management or recovery. If you have questions about our laser therapy service, please contact us at 705-476-3913.

How does pet laser therapy work?

Light waves penetrate tissue like skin or muscles and bones. Overtime, laser therapy works by increasing blood flow between cells to promote repair as well as by releasing endorphins, a feel-good chemical that allows your pet to effectively handle pain. It also helps relieve tension in your pet’s body, decrease inflammation and support healing.

Is it safe?

Yes, laser therapy is safe for our furry friends. Our veterinary team is highly trained in the proper techniques to ensure the procedure is done safely and correctly, prioritizing your pet’s wellbeing. We take precautions, like wearing protective goggles during treatments, to ensure our team is safe as well. Depending on your pet’s individual needs, we’ll recommend laser therapy if we think they’re the right fit. Conditions that can be treated with laser therapy include:

  • Arthritis
  • Post-surgery
  • Injuries, like in the tendon or ligament
  • Traumatic injuries

What happens during laser therapy?

With the help of a handheld device, we can target specific areas of your pet’s body with the laser’s light waves. The laser wand moves back and forth across the area, creating a warm feeling for your pet. Depending on the extent of your pet’s inflammation or wound, we’ll recommend a few sessions overtime, based on their needs. These sessions can range from 15 to 30 minutes.
